What types of visas are available?

Our firm has already helped many individuals and families find their way through the immigration system and can do the same for your case. We know how to handle the various procedures involved in obtaining a visa and are well-versed in the regulations set out by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Our immigration lawyers can help you pursue the right visa for your travel needs.

There are various types of visas to select from, such as:

  • A-1/A-2/A-3: For foreign ambassadors, ministers, diplomats, and others on official business.
  • B-1/B-2: For temporary visitors pursuing business or leisure.
  • F-1/F-2/F-3: For full-time students in the U.S., as well as their spouses and children.
  • J-1: For exchange visitors taking part in programs promoting cultural exchange.
  • H-1B: For foreign workers employed by U.S. companies in special, temporary positions.
  • L-1: For employees of international companies with offices in the U.S. and abroad.
  • TN: For citizens of Canada or Mexico who want to live and work in the U.S. temporarily.

In addition, E-class visas permit foreign investors to enter and work inside the U.S. so long as they commit to investing a substantial amount of capital into a business venture. These visas are generally valid for multiple years and may be renewed as many times as needed. Applicants usually apply at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate nearest to where they live. An interview at the embassy is required for all those between the ages of 14 and 79, and a digital fingerprint scan.

Practice Areas

Bond Hearings

The interaction of the criminal justice system and our immigration system can tear families apart. Detention creates incredible financial and emotional tolls on the families of those who have been detained. A person may have been detained in California and then sent to Louisiana. It is hard to overstate the impact detention has on families. We can help you pursue a bond hearing as soon as possible to help ensure your release from detention. Our experience and skill can help you secure a bond hearing in a short amount of time and can help you secure a reasonable bond.

Committed To Helping Immigrants Fight Deportation

At Mayeaux & Associates, we understand the dire situation many immigrants face once they are in detention. With so few lawyers and so many people detained at the LaSalle Detention Facility, we have gone to great lengths to help as many people as we could. In the past, attorney Kenneth Mayeaux developed a legal orientation program to help educate detainees on their legal rights. While the program is no longer in place, we still work to make ourselves as available as possible to help detainees. Our experience helping detainees to navigate the immigration system and to enforce their rights can be invaluable to those who are detained and their loved ones.
